Seventy-years-old caravan sold for record amount of $630.000

A 1950s luxury caravan has fetched $630,000 on the Bring A Trailer auction site. The caravan looks like a train car from the outside, but is furnished like a classic penthouse on the inside.

This 1950 Westcraft Capistrano has been worked on for more than ten years. The caravan has been completely converted and modernized and recently changed hands for 630,000 dollars, about 536,650 euros. The restoration reportedly lasted from 2008 to 2019.

The trailer is just over ten meters long and has six windows on each side. Part of the wooden interior is still original. This also applies to half of the aluminum outer walls. The chassis, brakes and axles have been completely overhauled.

There is no shortage of luxury: there is a new central heating boiler, air conditioning, two sound systems, two Sony flat screens with Bose sound bars and USB connections. There is also a fridge-freezer, a bathtub and stainless steel is used throughout. The total weight of the caravan is not stated.
